8 Ways to Screenshot on Laptop and PC: Easy and Practical

How to Screenshot on Laptop and PC

There are many methods you can use to save the display on your gadget screen . Let’s see the various ways to take SS of your laptop and PC screen below:

1. Using the Print Screen (PrtScn) Button

To capture the entire screen, press the Print Screen (PrtScn) key . The screenshot will not be saved as a file, but will be copied to the clipboard.

Therefore, you should open an image editing application such as Microsoft Word or Paint, and copy the newly taken screenshot into that application.

Once the results are visible on the screen, you just need to save the screenshot.

2. Using the Alt + Prtscn Key

To quickly take a screenshot of the active Windows, use the keyboard shortcut Alt + PrtScn.

This will capture your active Windows and copy the screenshot to the clipboard. You will need to open the application in an image editor to save it.

3. Using the Windows Key + Prtscn button

To capture the entire screen and automatically save the screenshot, press the Windows key + the Prtscn key.

Your screen will dim briefly to indicate that you have just taken a screenshot, and the screenshot will be saved to the images ==> screenshots folder.

4. Using Windows Key + Shift + S

The screen will dim and the laptop mouse pointer will change. You can drag the cursor to select the part of the screen to capture.

The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard   which you can paste into another program or application. (This shortcut only works if you have the latest version of Windows 10 installed ).

5. Using the Windows Logo Key + Volume Down

If you’re using a Microsoft Surface device, you can use the physical buttons to take a screenshot of your entire screen.

Similar to how you would take a screenshot on any other phone or tablet.

To do this, hold down the Windows logo touch button at the bottom of your Surface’s screen and press the physical volume-down button on the side of the tablet. The screen will dim briefly and the screenshot will be automatically saved to the pictures ==> screenshots folder.

6. Using Game Bar

You can use the game bar to take screenshots, whether you are playing a game or not.

Press Windows key + G to bring up the game bar. From here, you can click the screenshot button in the game bar or use the default keyboard shortcut Windows key + Alt + PrtScn to take a full-screen screenshot.

To set your own game bar screenshot keyboard shortcut, you can go to settings ==> games ==> game bar.

7. Using the Snipping Tool

This application can take screenshots in more flexible formats such as rectangular, active Windows only, or full screen.

The method is very easy, Toppers. Just click the Windows logo + Shift + s and you can immediately start selecting the area you want to screenshot.

Snipping tool does not automatically save screenshots, you have to manually save it in the application before exiting. If you do, the application will automatically copy your screenshot to the clipboard .

8. Using Third Party Applications – LightShot

If you want more options for selecting and customizing your screenshots (and don’t mind downloading a new app), you can download the LightShot app. 

LightShot may be a better option for more professional work or screenshots that require significant editing.
