Choose whether to buy Pokémon Scarlet or Purple

The hype for Pokémon Scarlet and Purple is already noticeable . After all, this is the new generation of Pokémon, one that promises to revolutionize the foundations of the franchise. Although the latest games in the series have generated a little more controversy, it seems that this time the public supports these titles. Many classic mechanical things are likely to change or evolve with these games, so it stands to reason that no one would want to miss their release. However, one thing is clear: Pokémon remains as alive as in the past, and Paldea is here to stay .

But… Do you know what is not going to change with this new generation? Well, one of the most basic elements of the franchise. We are talking to you, of course, about the launch of two different versions, each of these with its own differences. Since Pokémon Red and Blue, the franchise has been launching at least two installments per generation, which are distinguished by their Pokémon and other details . And Scarlet and Purple are not going to be the exception. Therefore, today we have gotten down to work to review the main differences between the two versions. Do you want to know which version you are most interested in buying? Well, inside the article!

A well differentiated education

In Pokémon Scarlet and Purple, our protagonist must attend class. But don’t be scared, because unlike boring university classes here we will find a much more practical education. In both versions we will have to attend a Pokémon Academy, but its name will vary depending on the version. Thus, in Scarlet we will find the Orange Academy, while in Purple we will find the Grape Academy. Of course, the director of both institutions will not vary in anything… Except for his clothing, which will adapt to the color of the academy. A simple, but nice change.

Of course, the color of our protagonist’s clothes will also vary depending on the version, but this is a minor detail. After all, we can change the clothes to our liking throughout the adventure. Another important change that both versions present is the teacher who will guide us during our adventure. This had rarely happened in the series, since generally the professor remained in both versions of the same generation. Be that as it may, in Scarlet Professor Albora will help us, while in Purple the one who will help us will be Professor Turo.

Various Pokémon, both common and legendary

However, the most important and interesting changes between versions are related to the Pokémon that have been included. And each version will have a specific number of unique Pokémon, which can only be obtained in the other version through exchange. Thus, Scarlet’s unique Pokémon are:

  • Larvitar
  • pupitate
  • Tyranitar
  • Stonejourner
  • Armarouge
  • Koraidon

The Larvitar evolutionary line can only be obtained through Scarlet, like the recently introduced Armarouge. The most interesting Pokémon on the list is, of course, Koraidon, as it is the main legendary of this version. Their movements or types are not yet known. On the other hand, Purple’s exclusive Pokémon are:

  • Bagon
  • Shelgon
  • Salamence
  • Eiscue
  • Ceruledge
  • Miraidon

Here, the exclusivity of the Bagon evolutionary line especially stands out, since only Purple players will be able to get the powerful Salamence. We also find Miraidon, the main legendary of this version, who like Koraidon, his type is not yet known. Remember that this list is subject to change, because as not all the Pokémon that will come to the game are known, it is still uncertain how many will be exclusive.
