6 Skills needed by modern teachers

Now, competency also needs to be accompanied by more detailed aspects or skills that need to be possessed. In this modern era, it is not surprising that teachers are required to keep up with current developments. Moreover, students can now easily get a lot of information from anywhere, including the Internet. It is a challenge for teachers to be able to keep up with current developments. Therefore, modern teachers need several of the skills below to remain relevant to their students.

1.      Adaptive

A teacher needs to be adaptive in the modern era like now. Ten years ago, teachers needed to be able to easily adapt to the introduction of digital technology replacing analog technology. This time, they need to adapt to Internet technology. The Covid pandemic several years ago forced many teachers to adapt to the situation. Starting from distance learning, to creating learning plans that can be very different from face-to-face learning.

2.      Self-confident

Self-confidence is also needed to be a good teacher in the modern era like now. This is important to be able to give students or students a sense of self-confidence. This is also important so that teachers can stand out for students compared to other teachers. Teachers who have self-confidence are also preferred by many students.

3.      Communicative

Technological developments are not without effects. As students become increasingly overwhelmed with information and content, they often have quite short attention spans. Therefore, now teachers need to be more communicative. A communicative teacher means being able to convey teaching material quite briefly and clearly. This makes students not feel bored due to the long learning and teaching process.

4.      Work in a team

Now, teachers are also expected to be able to work in teams. Once again, because the existing information is increasingly developing, not everything can be captured by the teacher. For this reason, it would be better if teachers could work together with other teachers to be able to learn new technology, new information, and new methods of learning which will prevent many teachers from being left behind.

5.      keep learning

Teachers should also never stop learning. Because new knowledge and information will be available all the time. This is also important so that teaching does not leave behind the information and knowledge of students or students. Learning is not only about knowledge and information, but also about learning methods and media which are now increasingly diverse. Starting from online learning, digital, to very varied learning media.

6.      Imaginative

Lastly, teachers are expected to have imaginative skills when teaching. This will really help in the learning process so that the learning process doesn’t become boring. Not only that, imaginative skills can help teachers to create new learning methods that are very fun, according to the needs of their students themselves.
